We invite you to spend your Minnesota family vacations with us this year. Our Minnesota lake resort specializes in life-long memories made in one of the most beautiful areas of the country; Northern Minnesota. The lake is crystal clear; the beach warm and inviting. And the fishing will reward your angling skills.
When not fishing or enjoying the lake or beach at our Minnesota family resort, why not play pool in the Lodge or just gather with friends new and old? Work up a sweat playing volleyball or tennis, or play a round of golf at any of the nearby courses. Pack a picnic lunch and see the historic Mesabi Iron Range or walk across the headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park. Spend a day on the lake on our party pontoon. Go out on the docks after dark on a clear, moonless night and see one of the most spectacular light shows you will ever see – you might even be treated to a performance by the northern lights.
You will enjoy the unique gift shops, galleries, restaurants, supper clubs, marinas and sporting goods stores in nearby Remer, Longville, and Outing. Or just hang out at the beach.
Your accommodations are roomy, well-spaced, and all have spectacular views of Thunder Lake. They are nestled among tall pines and each is unique. Stay in the historic McCleary Cabin. Restored in ’04, it was originally built in 1912 and was the first cabin built at Thunder Lake Lodge, soon to be a retreat for Al Capone’s gang! Ten rustic cabins, two a-frames, the four bedroom ‘Cottage Deluxe’ and the ultra-modern three bedroom ‘Condo 1’ and two bedroom ‘Condo 6’ round out the accommodations. Some have fireplaces. Each has a picnic table and all have a deck or patio. All ground level units have their own firepit for that private gathering around the campfire to share stories of the day. All units are complete with stove, refrigerator, microwave, barbecue grill, full bath with tub or shower (several have 2 full baths), cooking/eating utensils, and bed linens. You need to bring your own kitchen and bath towels.
Our 15 acres and 500 feet of lakeshore give elbow room for everyone no matter what activity you are interested in. Volleyball, tennis, shuffleboard, video games, playground, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, sand beach, diving raft, fishing dock, pool table, ping pong, horseshoes, and even videos for that occasional rainy day!
Join the many families who make Thunder Lake Lodge an annual tradition. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you soon!
