Project Thunder

Friday, January 30th, 2009

We have been in the process of remodeling and overhauling certain rooms throughout the resort.  Phase 1 includes the demo and remodeling of both bathrooms in Cottage #11 as well as the kitchen sink replacement in Cottage #12.  I have taken photos of the demo process to better illustrate the extent of our work.

Cottage #11 – Small Bathroom:

Cottage #11 – Big Bathroom:

Cottage #12 – Kitchen sink and cabinet:

Both bathrooms in Cottage #11 will be getting new showers and tubs, as well as sinks and toilets.  The wall paneling will be knotty pine.  It is our goal to make them a little more “northwoodsy” in appearance.  Anybody who has stayed in Cottage #11 knows what we are talking about.  The biggest challenge right has been trying to jack up and level out the big bathroom in Cottage #11.  A learning experience to say the least.

More projects of this nature are scheduled in other cabins but will be contingent on time.  We will keep you up-to-date on the blog as they happen.

Thanks again for reading!

Snowmobile Trail Report (1-22-09)

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

NOTEThe Snowmobile Trail Report is provided by our friends Jeff & Larry, owners and operators of the Anchorage Inn.  The last report was January 22nd, 2009.

Snow Conditions

We haven’t had any measurable snow since before the new year, so if you know a good snow dance, nows the time to break it out.

Trail Report

The trails are starting to get dirty looking and some of the corners are icy, but almost all of the riders I’ve talked to this week (50+) tell me the trails are still in good shape. The Triville Trail heading north out of Longville doesn’t get as much traffic as the other trails, so if you haven’t been on it, you might want to check it out.

Grooming Schedule This Week

All trails were groomed Monday and Tuesday and will be done again today and Friday. Trails should be ready to go for a busy weekend of riding. A big thanks to the Longville Snowmobile Club Groomers for all of the time they’ve donated to make the trails the best they’ve been in years.

Snowmobile Trail Report (1-8-09)

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

NOTEThe Snowmobile Trail Report is provided by our friends Jeff & Larry, owners and operators of the Anchorage Inn.  The last report was January 8th, 2009.

“So far, we’ve had a wonderful snowmobile season. The trails are in very good condition.

We missed out on the big storm last week, but did get between 2-3 inches of snow on Saturday. All trails were groomed early in the week, and reports are they’re in very good condition.

The trails that get the most traffic will be done a second time today and Friday, so everything should be setup for a great weekend of sledding.”

The forecast is also calling for light snow throughout the weekend, which should add a light, fresh new layer for the trails.

Random Winter Writings…

  • We hope everybody had a happy holiday season and new year!  Best wishes to all and your families for a happy, healthy and successful 2009 calendar year.
  • Looks like we are in store for another half-foot of snow this evening.  As I write this, the snowfall is beginning become stronger and the tree lines across the lake from us are beginning to disappear.  Should help the cause of the snowmobile trails yet again.  There has been a lot of snowmobile traffic in the area recently.  The most recent trail report will be posted again as soon as I get my hands on it.
  • After being on the ice a couple times in the last week, it is apparent that ice conditions are improving on Thunder Lake.  There is still a top layer of slush in some areas that has yet to freeze, but generally speaking, I think the lake is safe.  My neighbors have ventured out about 200 yards from shore with their ice houses and atv’s.  I began to plow some paths out on the ice with our 4-wheeler in front of the lodge in anticipation of our new ice fishing house rental being completed this coming week.  When it is finished, I will post photos.

More to come shortly…
